Have just spotted this.

Lambeth had lots of potteries including the Doulton Factory (later Royal Doulton) founded by Henry Doulton.  This was on the South side of the Thames in the area between Lambeth & Vauxhall Bridges (closer to Lambeth though!)

Fulham is also in South London, but is in fact SW London and is on the North bank of the Thames and a lot of potters worked in this area too including I believe the Martin Bros.

Fulham is farther up the river to Lambeth.

So you would need to know which firm(s) the Rathbones might have worked for.  My money would be on a pottery on the Southside such as the Doulton factory as that would have been closer to where they lived and this factory was a large employer in the area.   Most of the other Potteries would have been of a smaller type especially those like Martin Bros. who were "art" potters.

Very early on Doulton was an industrial pottery, drainpipes etc. later lavatorial products and then into the type of Art pottery they are now more famous for.
Fleming (Bristol) Fowler/Brain (Battersea/Bristol)    Simpson (Fulham/Clapham)  Harrison (W.London, Fulham, Clapham)  Earl & Butler  (Dublin,New Ross: Ireland)  Humphrey (All over mainly London) Hill (Reigate, Bletchingly, Redhill: Surrey)
Sell (Herts/Essex/W. London)

Hi

Hammersmith and Fulham Archives and Local History Centre hold the surviving records for the Fulham Pottery firm

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/nra/searches/subjectView.asp?ID=B2291

Thomas Street (1891 census) was renamed Warham Street - just off Camberwell New Road - about 1 to 1½ miles away from the Doulton pottery factory in Black Prince Road near the Albert Embankment.

Lambeth Archives have records for Doulton & Co Ltd, Royal Doulton Potteries

Martin Brothers started their pottery firm in Fulham in 1873 but had moved to Southall by 1877

Know this is an old thread & not sure it will be of any help, but William Odell Rathbone married into my Headland family. His wife was Maria, daughter of my 2xg grandfather Henry William Headland & his second wife Caroline Easter Reffell. I'm descended from his first wife Ann Williams but I've done quite a lot of research on the Reffells.
