In between coughing and sneezing I've looked at every Wallwork Family Tree available on line (I think)   Most of them go back to Thomas Wallwork or James Wallwork......... no ruddy William anywhere!!!!
Please don't tell me I've got another Ernest!!!        :o :o

You have got another Ernest   ::)

I have been sat here staring at my map of Parish Boundaries/Townships etc.  trying to figure out their movements. William was born Tyldesley and married Mary born Clifton (township of Worsley, parish of Eccles). Son John states he was born Worsley but that could just be the Township not the actual place.   They lived at Hill Top which was at the very top left hand corner of Worsley Township, parish of Eccles and it adjoined Little Hulton Township which was in the Parish of Deane.  So logically thinking William should have married Mary at St. Mary the Virgin, Eccles - except they are online and I can`t find them, but there are gaps.    Son John should also have married there as his wife states Worsley as her place of birth, but they haven`t been transcribed on Lanopc yet.

I am thinking aloud so bear with me.  ;D

William states he was 69 and Mary 57 on the 1851 census, so a bit of an age difference could mean that he was previously married  :-\   He was  buried in December 1857 aged 78, so had he been knocking a few years off his actual age?  Shame he didn`t leave a Will - I can`t see one anyway, but it may be worth checking.

I hope you are feeling a bit better today.

Regards.
Mo
PS I also had a look at those trees - some are hilarious  ;D If they couldn`t find a marriage in England then one in the USA will do.  ::) ::)

Hi Mo.

I'm thinking the same as you........ locality wise.   Little Hulton is just North of Tyldesley, Walkden to the East, there are a number of BP's on Lancs OPC born to Thomas (hatter) and Mary of Tyldesley at Peel Chapel which was walking distance from Walkden, Kearsly and Farnworth -  http://www.stpaulspeel.com/index.php?navID=11 - and a couple at Ellenbrook Chapel - St Mary the Virgin - http://freespace.virgin.net/tony.smith/ellen.htm

I had wondered about the age difference....... the one child always got me!!

I'm going to print everything out so I can poor over it without having to go backwards and forwards.   It's there, I know it......... I just can't recognise it yet!!

Les.........I had an Uncle Alf......... actually Donald Alfred     ::) ::)    I'll try and follow the 'not William' angle and see what I can come up with.

Yes, that's what I meant.
Extracted PR's for Deane which is about 4 miles from Tyldesley.

William married Alice Jarrard there in 1772 (M005891) then William s/o William and Alice was christened there in 1780 (P005891).

The LDS notes say the records are held at the Lanc's Record Office, Preston.

Hi,

Manchester also have the records.  At the top of the main Lancashire Board is Lancashire Look Up Offers.  Cancan is going in August.   ;D  If you send her a PM with the details including the film numbers I am sure she will take a look.

There are the Film numbers:
Baptisms-1636-1784- MFPR 899
Marriages-1754-1797- MFPR 901

That baptism looks far more promising.

Regards,
Mo
