Hi Shanted,

Welcome to RootsChat, especially in these circumstances !  :)

I'm wondering whether "Rubyredslippers" will receive an email notification to your reply - she had a problem and didn't see our replies earlier.

My advice would be to make a couple of further replies on this thread. You need two, or possibly three posts - this will then enable you to send her a private message by clicking on the green scroll under her name.

Any problems and I will happily send her a message on your behalf ! :)

Kind regards,

Pels.

I understand that you are having probs with your email. I am very interested in what your connection is with Langthwaite. It was my grandmother Margaret bernhardt who had the inn in the village. My father was robert Frederick bernhardt who was born in Stockton on tees. and was an infant in the cencus you mentioned. Please reply and we can search further. Cheers  :)

My mother, Edna Charlton, was the daughter of Thomas Grange Charlton and sister of Hilda Charlton. Edna was born in 1904 in Stockton-on-Tees.  She maried Charles Waller and Hilda married, I think, Robert Bruce (a bookmaker) and they had two chldren, a girl (Edna?) and a son, Stuart.

Any details as to grandmother, etc. would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Vivien

Most likely totally unrelated, but anything is worth mentioning - there's a thirteen year old girl named Hilda Victoria Charlton, born in Stockton visiting a family by the surname of Bernard in 1911. The youngest son of the family was born in Langthwaite, Arkengarthdale, they were still living in Arkengarthdale at the time of the census.

I've looked and can't find an obvious connection between this vistor and the family, apart from the fact two other members were also born in Stockton.

Hi again,

Hopefully Vivien will see your message but to enable her to send you a PM she will have to make at least one more post by replying to this, or in response to some other thread.

If you would also like to send her a message yourself you will need to make another post to activate the personal message (PM) system.

To do this you have to click on the small green scroll under the person's username.
