Hi,
My wife has found what may be your Thomas Warburton on the 1891 census for Newton Mearns,Renfrewshire, father Edwin , mother Maria. The census form states that this Thomas was born in ENGLAND.  She has also found that an Edwin Warburton married a Maria York in oct -Dec quarter 1881 in BLABY, Leicestershire. Ref Vol 7a Page 86.

Scottish birth certificates do list date and place of parents' marriage.
Well done to Mrs. K. for finding information on what looks to be Thomas' birth, etc.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

The civil index doesn't give details- you have to order the birth certificate to find the details.
One thought- if parents were married in 1888 and he was born in 1884 his birth would probably be registered under his mother's surname.

This is what I was thinking aghadowey ...BUT I have TWO different maiden names for his mother on two official scottish documents. NOW I could possibly have THREE if Kingskerwell's wife is correct with the surname York ( she is correct in regards to the cencus in 1891) . I have a scottish birth certificates for the rest of the family.

..The Thomas Warburton born in Athlone district in 1885.. is his  father name Edwin by any chance?

I searched the IFHF index and see that the father of the Thomas born in Co. Westmeath in 1884 is also Thomas. The birth is in the RC parish of Kilcleagh - this includes an area around the town of Moate.

Toddy,
She has the bit between her teeth now and has found what may be the family on the 1901 census, ages tie up with the 1891. However whereas the 1891 said Maria was born in England the 1901 says she was born in "Indies, East". Children are given as Thomas age 18 born IRELAND, Matilda age 9 born Eaglesham Lanark and Edwin age 7 born New Kilpatrick Dunbartonshire.
I hope that this does not add further confusion.

How does Murray sound as the maiden name? Pedigree Resource File (submitted I know but could be accurate) on www.familysearch.org lists Children of Edwin Warburton and Maria Murray.

No I have this info as wel In my family website Warburton page (click the link.. http://www.weetoddy.com/thewarburtonfamilyhistory.htm  )

aghadowey.
You may find that the one on the LDS site was actually submitted by me as most of the documents I have stated her maiden names as Murray. BUT then doubt came into my mind when I found a different surname on the poor law records in Glasgow for claims they made in the early 1900's. agin you can read the story in my website. Its turning into quite a saga!!
