Hi

FreeBMD has 3 birth registrations between 1921 and 1937 in Lambeth with children registered in the surname Hunt with mother's maiden name Ely. The first child of these 3 was called Alfred. The first two births were in 1921 and 1922.

Three children (details of potentially living people cannot be given on Rootschat) two birth registrations in Lambeth and one in Surrey S. E. births registered as Hunt with mother's maiden name Haslewood registered between 1926-1940.

Regards

Valda

Hi Valda,

There appear to be 2 births in Surrey S.E. (1937 and 1940) and 2 births in Lambeth (1926 and 1929) with the mother's maiden name of Haslewood.

Thank you all so very much for your input.

I did request a marriage certificate for HUNT and ELY back in 2002 but as I requested reference checking it came back that Alfred HUNT's occupation was not CRANE DRIVER and his father's occupation was not given as Artist/Circus Performer so I got a partial refund.  However, I should know by now that sometimes people do not always provide facts.....  so I may very well request the certificate anyway in the hope that it does tie up.  It won't necessarily further my research but it would be nice to tie up loose ends.  However, the 'hunt' for Alfred HUNT goes on particularly with regard to the R.A.O.B.

The two birth entries relate to my Uncle (born 1937) and my Aunt (born 1940).

Kind regards

Pat

Harry HUNT 1882/1883?
« Reply #12 on: Sunday 18 July 10 15:16 BST (UK) »
Hi,

As you appear to have a wealth of info and access to research aids, I thought I would chance my luck and throw this in for debate.

My Great Grandparents, Henry aka Harry HUNT and Louisa THURLOW married 1st Qtr 1884, however their first child also called Harry appears in the 1891 census age 8 and 1901 census age 18 so this implies that he was born 1882/1883 before they actually married.  I CANNOT find reference anywhere to a Harry HUNT being born to Louisa HUNT or Louisa THURLOW.  Louisa originally came from Woodbridge in Suffolk and I thought she might have returned home to give birth.  None of the birth records that I have come across over the years would appear to substantiate that line of thought.  So, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Also Harry HUNT dies sometime between the 1901 and 1911 census but I just CANNOT find reference to his death.  Prior to the 1911 census being released I thought he might have died during WW1.  Legend has it that he died at sea but I can't find any UK records to back this up.  Again, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Kind regards, once again.

Pat

One of the reasons why I enjoy family history so much.........  there's brick walls, puzzles, skeletons in cupboards......  I know I will find the answers to my questions one day - just hope that I will still be around to see that day!   ;)

Hi,

I have a bit more information on my Grandad's 'Buffalo' medals received from my Uncle in Australia.  Hopefully someone will be able to give me more information on this and the Buffalos in general.  In my Uncle's letter, he tries to described the medals (he did suffer a stroke a few months previously):

Inscribed on all of them Victoria R.A.O.B. Grand Council Lodge No. 966 Presented to (Primo) A. Hunt Lodge No. 966
War medal The Great War for Civilisation 1914 - 1919;
A Silver Medal 1914 - 1918 Blue, White, Yellow, White & Blue a man on a charger;
Red, White, Blue Star on Crown & ???? cross swords 1914 - 1915

Can ANYONE out there shed some light on these?

Kind regards

Pat
