Joseph Perkins, Chiddingfold
« on: Saturday 17 July 10 10:06 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find the parents of Joseph Perkins who was born in Chiddingfold [correction: Towcester] abt. 1811. He married Elizabeth Pannell 11th April 1836 in Chiddingfold and died in Northampton in 1873.

Any help would be great. Thanks
Mike

Hi Mike,
Welcome :)
There is this on FreeREG;
www.freereg.org.uk

Joseph PERKINS,
Baptised 26 January 1806, St Lawrence, Towcester, Northamptonshire
Parents THOMAS and SARAH

May have lied about his age a bit as Elizabeth was younger ;)
But by 1871 Census he is born c 1806.

Thomas and Sarah seem to have LOTS of children baptised between 1797-1815;
( Just dates you can check details for yourself)
WILLIAM STEWARD 1787
SARAH ANN 1798
JOHN 1800
JOHN STEWARD 1802
MARTHA 1803
JOSEPH 1806
JAMES STEWARD 1808
MARY 1809
CATHERINE REBECCA 1815

Catherines entry has Fathers Occp as a Miller

By the second name of some of the children one would think Sarah was nee Steward but I cant find a Marriage.
Either that or it is Thomas's Mothers maiden name.

Trish :)

Hi

If this proves to be the Perkins family you are interested in I can move your post to the Northamptonshire board if you wish.

Firstly thanks for all the information.
Yes, this is the correct Perkins family. I have been trying to link them to the Saxon Mill (Guys Cliff) to prove a family story.
All the information provided is pointing to prove it to be true. Thomas Perkins was the miller in 1782.
Joseph b.1806 Towcester seems to be the son of his son Thomas b.1764 in Leek Wootton.

Valda, it would probably be best to move this to the Northants board as the Surrey section of the family was only brief. Prior to Joseph we head to Warwickshire.

Sandy, I do have the Joseph dying in 1873. Are you the same Sandy that helped me several years ago with the Smith section of my family from Little Harrowden? If so, it's great to meet up again.

I am so impressed with this forum and the information I got from the chatroom at the weekend.
I will have a look at Mary's site when I get some more time.

Brilliant  ;D

Hi Mike.

You couldn't have chosen a better forum espeically for your
"Northamptonshire Roots" as we have Alan Clarke's web site,
Mary Taylor's (already mentioned), Steve Garton, and all the
ones noted on my Useful Northants Links.  :)
