Hi  :)

You've not been back since you posted your request. However, in case you'd like to follow them up, here's Jane with her mother and Aunt in 1871:

High Street, Kirkcudbright
871 ED 3 P 13

Little
Agnes, 40, ag lab,
Jessie, daughter, 19, ag lab
Helen, daughter, 8, scholar
Agnes, duaghter, 2
Mary, sister, 35, washerwoman
Jane, neice, 13, scholar
Mary, daughter,  7, scholar

All b. Kirkcudbright

In 1861 I think she is listed as Jane Taylor with her mother, aunt and grandparents

I'm wondering if this is James Riddick in 1851.  Crossmichael is adjacent to Kirkpatrick Durham is adjacent to Crossmichael

Crossmichael village
862 ED 1 Page 19

Riddick
Elisabeth, 34, servant's wife
William , 5
John, 3
James, 5 months

All b. Crossmichael

Not sure about the above now as I have found a submitted entry on the IGI for James - b. 6 July 1844, Kirkpatrick Durham. Parents as on Marriage Cert.

I need to do some more checking  ::)
