hi there:

Marriage: Charles west, bachelor,otp = phoebe Hull,spinster,otp
3/11/1835 loughborough
Charles signed his name, phoebe her mark
witnesses: Harriet West; Thomas West; John Twells (come across him before as church member)

baptism: Charles West s/o gabriel west and Mary his wife
bap 23/1/1809 L'boro

Marriage: Gabriel west otp = mary Keightley otp
15/9/1805 L'boro
both their mark
witnesses: William Thorpe; Joseph webster

there was some problem with reading the occupation of gabriel on charles baptism so i looked in the L'boro indexes for 1791 -1812 (bmds) which confirmed him as a stockiner and also found:

Mary Ann d/o Gabriel West & Mary Ann  bap 2/11/1806 L'boro

John Keightley s/o Gabriel West & Ann  bap 5/7/1811 L'boro

Mary Keightley d/o John Keightley & Sarah  bap 10/2/1793 L'boro

the John Keightley one is either wrong surname and wifes second name or illigitimate or?? might chceck actual record next itme in!!

Thankyou ever so much Diddy.

That's great confirmation for me and takes back at least another generation!

Yep the West's were definetly "Loughborough people".

My Dad is visiting the cemetery there also later this month - we have confirmed some (West's ) burials there also.

Many Thanks

Brownwest

Most of the L'boro records are transcribed in indexes without needing to go to the actual records and there were other wests there just in the volume I looked in.

the Local history library is open to all - you don't have to be a member of the library, so if you have time it might be worth a visit.

To Diddy Miller,

This is brownwest.

Its been sometime since we spoke on roots. I was wondering if you cna give a bit more assitance on the local history library you mentioend previously - with all the records that index there?

My Dad is coming to Loughborough (form london) in late July 2011 and is going to check out some burials plots at Welford Rd Cemetry and perhaps some other information if we can get some more details on where is best to go?

Can you assit?

Regards

Brownwest
