As suzard says Williams and Wales is very difficult.

Somewhere in your scant information, you know about William the tea dealer so that may be a start.
You could get a birth certificate for one of the children to ensure you are on the right track.

Then you have a connection with Thomas - what do you know about him- place and year of birth for example.

There is an 1860 marriage- Chorlton on Medlock - possible spouses.

I can't see the couple in 1861 though.
1881 Ann gives her p o b as Llanwain (?) Montgomeryshire
1891 Ann born Machynlleth, Montgomeryshire

Does this help or fit in with what you know?

So we can rule out the 1871 census -William Hewitt age 34 and Ann wife age 33????

Why do you think the marriage took place in 1850 ?

Have you found the marriage???

Could you give d.o.b. and p.o.b. for Thomas Williams (father of catherine and brother of Ann??)

We can then look for Thomas and Ann with parents
