Thanks I had heard them say they might have to do DNA, re Maud I think, but they left it all in the air.

It could be they have done the DNA but don't want to reveal the results publicly, fair enough but then why include the case in the series.

What I was hoping is someone would have popped up and explained what legally happens when there is questionable parentage as in this case.

----------------
As I understand it no they do not need to take the deceased lady's DNA they just need to take the DNA of all the competing heirs and see where the matches or not are
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

No, one offspring has been established by certs. as full blood so if the others DNA isn't a certain % match it will mean half blood & not a descendant of the others father if that makes sense ???

The series has always jumped on any 'story' link usually to explain something historical. It can be quite tenuous at times but it's usually harmless. I'm more irritated by the Finding Your Roots show on PBS which has an obvious agenda in the way it presents history via the family history of celebrities.

Back to HH how many Amys does Finders have? Everyone's called Amy  ;D

Carol - Yes I realise that now, times goes so fast, I can't believe it's mid March already. ::)  Hopefully the programmes will be repeated later on.  I think the previous series were repeated about 7 or 7.30pm on BBC2 some time after each series had finished.
