Hi Nottsgirl,  Cornelius was married to Elizabeth MASLAND on 7 June 1769 at Pinxton.  There are no Baptism or burial entries for him. He may have been buried at Mansfield. Based on what you told me he only married for a short time before he died. Do you know how he died.. there are no entries for him in the Day to day book f Pinxton.

Hi Trevor,

Thank you so much for looking for me, I'm actually doing this research for someone else and all we know is that a William Wilkinson was found guilty of the manslaughter of Cornelius Cowlishaw , schoolmaster at South Normanton, Derbyshire.
I'll pass the marriage on to the lady concerned.

Can I just ask what date your book and records go up to please?
Again thank you so much for your help.

All the best

Hi Dizzifish,

That make sense as Alfreton is very close to Pixton and South Normanton nearer than Mansfield (my sister lives in Pixton). So the 1770 burial would be the one, don't know how old he was so not sure which baptism is the right.

Thank you so much.

Without wanting to sound cheeky I wonder if you could look up a couple of items in the Pinxton registers for me.

Marriage of Sarah HILL to Thomas BALL reported to have taken place 5th Feb 1807 in particular were they of age and who witnesses were also a baptism of a Sarah HILL circa 1804, Alice BALL circa 1807 and Thomas BALL circa 1810.

My thx

Hi Rob,  The parish register shows the date of marriage as 5 MAY 1807, no occupation is given for either or any witnesses. The rector was Peter WILSON and it was by Banns. I have checked both records under Brides surname and Grooms surname and it iis the same... no further info.. Sorry.  Anything else you need then please ask.. regards Trevor
