Hi
The Scots church was non-conformist. At the beginning of civil registration 1st July 1837 many of the non-conformist churches did a deal with the then government and handed over their church registers in return for having them recognised as legal documents. As with all government records they ended up at The National Archives where they were indexed on the IGI. All the non-conformist records have been indexed and the images of the pages of the registers placed online though there is a cost to see the pages
http://www.bmdregisters.co.uk/ George had two possible siblings also baptised at the same church
ELIZABETH TAYLOR
Birth: APR 1810
Christening: 10 JUN 1810 Scots Church, Woolwich, Kent
Father: GEORGE TAYLOR
Mother: ANN
MARY ANN TAYLOR
Birth: 27 MAY 1814
Christening: 19 JUN 1814 Scots Church, Woolwich, Kent
Father: GEORGE TAYLOR
Mother: ANN
The later the entry (from 1813) onwards the more detail that might given such as father's occupation. Some non-conformist registers also include further details on mothers.
Regards
Valda
