Norris
« on: Sunday 11 July 10 09:55 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone

Does anyone have a connection to any Norris' of Ardmore/Drumahoe. My G Grandmother Rebecca Norris states Ardmore as her place of residence at her marriage to John James Lynch, at Glendermott 1st Presbyterian Church in Drumahoe. They were married in 17th September 1891 and moved into the Waterside.  Rebecca's father was called Robert. That is all the information I have, can anybody help me?

Yours hopefully

There seems to be conflicting details about Rebecca's father from your earlier posts.

Found out that Thomas & Matilda (McCorkell) Norris were married in Ballyarnett Presbyterian Church on 21/02/1867, although Thomas's surname is down as " Norry ".  They lived in Aubrey Street, The Fountain at the time of the census, yet when Rebecca (2nd daughter - my great grandmother) got married it was at the other end of town at Glendermot 1st Presbyterian Church on 17/09/1891, so there seemed to be a bit of moving around for the family.

Does anybody have any information on a Thomas (Norry) Norris (ca 1846) who married a Matilda McCorkell of Dundrean, Co. Donegal at Ballyarnett Presbyterian Church in 1867. At the time of his wedding he was living at Ballymagroarty. They went on to have eight surviving children, the second of which was my G. Grandmother.

You've also another thread here looking for Lynch/Norris connection which is locked for some reason.

Does anybody know anything of Rebecca Norris (Ardmore) who married John James Lynch (Drumahoe) at Glendermott Presbyterian Church in 1891. Rebecca's father was Robert Norris
it was info on Rebecca Norris I was really looking for. In the church records it states that she was from Ardmore, which is just outside Londonderry, N. Ireland and that her father was Robert Norris. Does anyone else know anything else about her or her family?

Living in  Perth, W. Australia but on a trip home in January of this year, when I went to the Records Office in Belfast, I found out I was looking at the wrong family tree.  :-[ :'(

What I thought was strange at the time, but had no way of proving or disproving, was the fact that Thomas Norris (that I believed was my GG Grandfather )  and who married Matilda McCorkell (of Dundrain, Donegal) in Ballyarnett Pres Church and moved to the Fountain area in the City had a daughter that chose to get married in Drumahoe. As i mentioned before, it mightn't have seemed too odd as there was a lot of moving around during that period, as people looked for work.

Anyway, I realised I was looking at the wrong people and had to start afresh in regards to my G grandparents. Hopefully that clears up the conflicting requests from earlier posts

Here's the Lynch family in 1901 census-
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Londonderry/Waterside/Carlin/1539667/
Rebecca's age 29 so born c1872. In 1911 census she's age 37 so born c1874.

Since you have the church Rebecca was married in that would probably be to place to look for more details of her family. If you can get her mother's name then more records could probably be found in civil index, census, etc.
