Comment from the Portland Guardian - "a large body of immigrants arrived on the Violet.

There is also a snippet in the Argus 25 Oct 1854 from Plymouth headed Emigrants to Australia on the Violet.  No names are mentioned.

This Margaret was from Cork and engaged to work for 3 months by John de Cree (?) at Warrnambool.  That is all, sorry.
I checked those mentioned by Annie who came into NSW and they don't have the correct parents' names.

You may have seen the will and probate papers for Daniel STEARN, ginger-beer maker of Warrnambool, died 10 September 1868, mentions his wife Margaret and lists property.  Children are mentioned but not listed by name.

http://www.prov.vic.gov.au/indexes/index_search.asp?searchid=54

No help in finding Margaret's arrival though.

There is an Ad from Daniel STEARNE for a stolen horse, Warrnambool 1849

Allowing for illiteracy and accents, her age and place of birth plus her arrival at Portland makes the above record worth considering.

Cheers ;D

Margarets surname was spelt  different ways

REARDON
REIORDEN
RIORDEN

OH yes one would assume so either on her part or even on  the register not knowing how she would spell her name ;D
