[Ken Austin]

Hi

I am looking for any information regarding my Great Grand Father James Austin and My Great Grandmother Annie Hamill. They were married in Seagoe Catholic Church, Lurgan Co.Armagh  on 26 September 1850. They had 11 children all Baptised at Seagoe from 1851 to 1870. My Grandfather Joseph Austin and a lot of the family moved to Govan, Glasgow sometime between 1870 and 1896 when my father was born. I have found some information in the Griffiths 1864 Evaluations regarding them, but cannot find any birth records for them. My great Grandfather James Austin was born between 1825 and 1830, but I don’t know where. Any possible assistance or leads would be very much appreciated as I have reached a dead end now.

Welcome to Rootschat. I've removed your other post with the same details since duplicate posts on different boards cause needless confusion for those trying to help you.

Civil registration of births started in 1864- for earlier dates you need to search for church records which you've already done. Perhaps you could post the names and birthdates of any children born 1864-1870 and we'll see if we can find them in the civil index for you. I.G.I. (www.familysearch.org) has many Irish births 1864-c1882 so you could also look there- site down for maintenance at the moment.

Hi Ken,

I have not looked up any of the records for your family as yet (but I will see if I can come up with anything for you this evening( fingers crossed)), but there was a family named Austin living in the townland of Drumnagoon for quite a few generations, so much so that a small new development in the area has been named Austin Place.

If you can, you should try Derrymacash Chapel for their records.
