Gerald,
I have a connection to the Peskett family in my tree, Robert Tobit Peskett is my great great grandmother's cousin's husband.  Robert married Maud Mary McQueen, cousin of Alice Sarah McQueen.
Alice Sarah married Walter Howard, my great great grandfather.

Due to the unusual name of Tobit Peskett I did a search on the internet and found another tree which links in to the Tobit Peskett's that maybe of interest to you, http://dinasgenealogy.co.uk/, this tree has Robert's sister Elizabeth Tobit Peskett marrying into the Cullham family and extends more in that direction than on the Peskett side of the family.

I have been in contact with the tree owner and they allowed me to take whatever info I wanted.

It was interesting to find out that this part of the Peskett family had several members who were in the 4th Suffolk Regiment and were in Barracks in London in some of the Censuses, which is why Arthur Ernest Tobit Peskett, mentioned in one of the replies to your post, was born in Ireland as his father George would have been stationed there in the Curragh Barracks for a while.

If you search for the Tobit Pesketts you will also find that Harry Tobit Peskett was killed in the Jervis Bay incident, where one ship saved the rest of the convoy by sacrificing itself to aid their escape from danger.

There is also a reference to the burial of George William Tobit Peskett who died in 1987 in Australia, George William is the Grandson of the George previously mentioned above, and son of George Jnr, confusing I know.

George Snr married Sarah Tobit (I think) going by the carry forward of the Tobit name although I have not been able to confirm this and according to a previous post they have a different surname for Sarah.

They had 8 children:
Robert
Elizabeth
George
Arthur Ernest
William
Agatha B
Horace
Gertrude

I have not done much research going back further into the past beyond George Snr so I hope this is helpful and maybe between us all we can fill in the blanks.

I have my tree on two sites if you are interested in looking at them, one is on http://howardian.tribalpages.com but this is not as up to date as my main tree as it does not allow a search function for further connections and is very manual.

The other one is on Ancestry.co.uk and if you would like access I will have to invite you to it.  I have been working on this one for a year and a half and it has become an addiction.

I hope all of this is of use and I look forward to keeping in touch if I find out any more info.

Happy searching.

Hi Ian,
Thanks for the response and the information.  I believe that George and Sarah had additional children the those you provide, although some are not confirmed.  Most of these have the Tobit middle name.
Here's those I have.
Elizabeth 1862
Emily 1864
George 1868
Robert 1870
Arthur Ernest 1872
William 1873
Agatha Beatrice 1876
Horace 1877
Gertrude Dorothy 1880
Edith Jane 1881
Frank 1883

Both Horace and Frank were killed during WW1 Horace in Belgium and Frank in Ypres, France

From 1873 onwards it appears the family settled down in Leiston, Suffolk as William and the children afterwards were all born there.  The earlier children must have been born close to where George was stationed at the time: Ireland, London, Berkshire.
Based on census information when the family was in England George was born abt 1836 in Hurst(pierpoint?), Sussex although I have yet to connect him with parents.

Gerald
Interest in all PESKETT references no matter how small.  Trying to piece together the PESKETTs whom mostly have come from Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Hampshire.

Dear Graham,

You mentioned there were some Pesketts linked to your family in Sussex; I have been looking at them briefly and the Goslings and related families in connection with my own research on the Dancys of Sussex and found these entries of what could be very useful letters if you wished to pursue them;

Regards
Penny
