Part Time Genealogy Courses
« on: Wednesday 07 July 10 13:17 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I'm thinking of taking a part-time genealogy course that fits around my own work commitments.  I would preferably like it to lead to a recognised qualification of some sort.  I would consider myself to be an intermediate sort of level in terms of experience.

Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences as to what type of course would suit.

Many thanks.

Hi, Hoops, I did the 'beyond the internet' distance learning course from the University of Dundee.  They also do formal qualifications for Post Grad level.  I am also aware that the University of Central Lancashire, Strathclyde and Cambridge Univ do recognised courses.
Good Luck

Unfortunately the University of Central Lancashire have had to discontinue their online family history courses, at least for the time being, because of funding and fees issues.

Oxford University Continuing Education department do a couple of courses which might be of interest, although they are family/social history rather than genealogy as such.

Have you looked at the IHGS website?
