So sorry to hear this sad news, but at least Indie is now free of pain and reunited with her much loved and missed John.

Badger:

I am so glad to hear that Indi was not on her own at the end...   Glad she had family with her.

I'm so sorry to hear this very sad news... it never failed to amaze me how she could still make one laugh, even when things were not so good for her... truly a lovely lady, who will always raise a smile whenever she is thought of.

R.I.P. Indi now that you are with both your beloved husband and daughter.

I have also been off line for a week and have only just come across this thread.  I remembered that she inspired me at my most unhappy time at the beginning of the year and have just looked back to read it again.  The Nun's advice is so true and I found her last sentence very moving.

Dear Abiam,
MY thouhts are with you. As many of the Rootschatters know, I lost my lovely husband of 27 years last June. His sister is a Nun and she gave me some great advice:

Don't try and get past it - you can't. Don't try and get over it - you can't. Make the death of your beloved part of the wonderful life you shared.

I, too am abroad and would love to go home - time will tell.

I have joined a grief chat room for widows and widowers - and have met some lovely people and have even been able to laugh on occasion. Send me a PM if you want the addy.

Good luck with your move, my dear, I will hold you in my heart.

Indi

I read a lot of her posts over the last 2 or 3 years and found her to have great humour, in adversity, and sincere feelings.  It is so sad that she didn't make her trip home.
Indi, you will be sorely missed by many.

I just got off the phone with indi's sister-in-law, the nun to whom Abiam refers.

She said that indi checked herself out of the care facility she was in to recover from the hip surgery and went home.  They last spoke on 20 May, I believe she said.

indi didn't want any service so there was none, but she and John were interred together in mid-June.

Her sister-in-law will keep me apprised.

We can all take some comfort in she did not know she was so ill until the end and went very quickly and is now at peace.
