Thank you very much for your help Isobelruss.  I thought the Joseph and Eliza I found on the 1881 was them but now I'm not so sure.  I will have to look into it further.

Thank you for confirming their place of birth as Leeds.

All the best

Jane

Hi Jane
Coming from Leeds myself I always look for my relatives after 1837 on the Yorkshire BMD.  Its a free site and I have found your Martha there on the
1841 births born Leeds North it also gives you their birth registration number
just in case you want or need to order their birth, marriage or death certificate.
Very helpful and a good backup if you find other information
Looked at the 1881 census and they are still in Boynton Street but have moved to number 50.  Joseph is 62, Eliza is classed as 63, their daughter is
Martha and is aged 39 and she has her 2 children with her who are
Joseph K Hepton, aged 8 born Leeds and Margaret A Hepton aged 9 born Leeds. Cant remember when I was young any Rushworths but definitely remember people called Hepton.

Also to let you know that around the beginning of the 1880's there was alot of typhoid or typhus in the Leeds area and alot of people died at whatever age in those days.

All the best from another Loiner (for the uninitiated someone born in Leeds)
regards Sandymc

Hi Sandymc

Sorry I havent got back to you sooner but my mother was taken ill and admitted to hospital so I have been spending all my time with her.
I do not have much on Martha at all.  I take it we are talking about the one born abt 1842 (Parents Joseph and Elizabeth)?  From the census it seems she was a teacher.

I believe that Joseph and Margaret Hepton were Eliza's children not Martha's. They also had a son called George and another daughter called Martha.

I have no idea who Martha married.

Thank you so much for helping me

All the best

Jane.

Hi Libby9

Thank you so much for helping me but I think I have a different Rushworth family to the one you found.

All the best

Jane

It was worth a try.  Hope you sort your Rushworths' out soon.

Good luck, Libby
