Working on the rule of thumb for a marriage at 20 years old, there are 4 possible baptisms of John Saxby's in Nottingham.

What were the names of thier children ??? , that is sometimes a clue to the grandparents.

2 are in Southwell which is fairly close to Laxton.

1. baptised 17.4.1796 father Stephen.... mother Charlotte

2. baptised 9.5.1804  father Thomas.... mother Elizabeth

Thanks for the help.

Which volume of Philimore is that in please.

In 1841 census John is deceased (I presume), and Ann 49 (so born circa 1791), living in Tuxford. Their children are Thomas 14, John 9 and Sarah 8. So I think they married a bit later in life, and perhaps the John I want is an older one in the IGI as christened in May 1784 in East Retford. His father was Thomas.

That would be the Phillimore Nottinghamshire Marriage Records as Laxton is in this county.

You can elminate this one, he appears in 1841 living with his father Stephen

Quote
Their children are Thomas 14, John 9 and Sarah 8.

Unless you have found thier baptisms you cannot assume they are thier children as no relationships are given in 1841
