I am new to rootschat and found this page throug a google-search on Robert Bruce Buchan and Helen Reid.  :)

I am a direct relative to the couple (great grandchild) and have info about their children and so on.

But I was searching for some info the other way. Robert Bruce Buchans parants and the gererations above them. Any ideas where I should look?

  Hi John777  robert bruce buchan & helen reid were my aunt & uncle.
   Parents of robert buchan were alexander buchan born27 nov 1843@ stcombs
   which is a small fishing villiage in aberdeenshire scotland.
   mary stephen born 19 feb 1840 @ cairnbulg which is the next villiage
   They married on the 23 oct 1862 @ the free manse rathen
   hoppe this is of some help

  Alexander Buchan's father was Peter Buchan who was married to
  Christian Bruce on the 18 Nov 1836 at Lonmay Aberdeenshire.

  Mary Stephen's parents were Alexander Stephen and Mary Thompson
  they married on the 25 Nov 1830 at Rathen Aberdeenshire Scotland.

   Siblings of Robert Bruce Buchan are
   Alexander born 2 Feb 1864 StCombs
  William born 29 Jan 1866 StCombs
  Charles Gordon born 16 Oct 1867 StCombs
  John born 7 Apr 1870 StCombs
  Peter born 7 Oct 1872 StCombs
  Mary born 25 Nov 1874 StCombs

Great!

Robert and Helens son Hector, was my grandfather on my mothers side. I grew up with stories about his siblings and their life after the left Scotland and moved to USA.

I know my mother has a lot of info about the siblings. I will contact her and post more info when I get it.

..and now I have posted enough here to be able to write, and answer, private messages :)

Info on the children of Robert and Helen is on the way :)

Do you have more info on the ancestry of the Buchan line before Peter Buchan, married to Christian Bruce, or do you know were I can find some help?
