William Wilson
« on: Sunday 04 July 10 11:58 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find information for this family William Wilson and Jane Hyslop or Hislop married 1840 Carluke, they had a son William 1847 and died 1877 Cambusnethan, he married Margaret Gray 1876, she went onto marry John Isaac 1890 Cambusnethan, her parents were Andrew Gray and Isabella or Elizabeth Muir don't have a marriage date for them, but I am sure they were married around the Lanark area.

John Isaac born 1841 his parents were James Isaac and Harriet Prater also can't find a marriage for them.

Hope someone can throw some light on all of the names I have mentioned.

Ann

Hi  :)

It might be better to tackle your requests one by one ~

A little bit of information. The marriage/banns for William Wilson  and Jane Hislop in 1840 states that Jane was of the parish of Sanquhar which is in Dumfriesshire.  This might be that Jane was working there or might have been born there.  William was of Carluke.

Have you got the family on any of the censuses?

Hi
I know what you mean by searching family by family, but they are all related somewhere along the line.

Thanks for your help.

Yes - of course they are but it is much easier for you and those trying to help if you were to tackle them one at a time:

~ Wilson/Hislop
~ Wilson/Gray
~Gray/Isaac
~Gray/Muir
~Isaac/Prater

It seems that I have come to a brick wall with this branch.

I'm away now until Tuesday but if no one else has helped by then, I'll see what I can find.

Some census info on the various families might help locate their birth places, etc.

Hi Ann  :)

Just got back a few hours ago.

The Wilson/H*slop line

I think that this might be William Wilson and Jane/Jean H*slop and their children on the 1851:

Whitestripe Farm, Muirhouses, Cambusnethan,  Lanarkshire
 628 ED 11 Page 1

Wilson
William, 36, ironstone miner, b. Dumfries, Sanquhar
Jean,35,  b -do-
James, 9, b. Carluke
John, 6,  b. Dumfries, Sanquhar
William, 4, b -do-
Ann, 2, b. Carluke
Gavin, 10 months, b. Cambusnethan

so Wilsons in Dumfries  :-\   I have some there  and they are a real struggle. I'll try to follow them up if you'd like  :)
