I hate to have to disappoint, but the chances of finding anything more, and especially anything reliable (i.e. not some tree or other submitted to Ancestry or some other commercial web site) are very small indeed unless your Hutcheons or Petries owned land.

Your post raises a lot of questions.

From what you have posted, you have a marriage of a John Hutcheon to a Mary Petrie in Forfar in 1729. Have you looked at the original of that marriage record on Scotland's People to see what else (if anything) it tells you?

There is no surviving record on Scotland's People of a marriage of a James H*t*c*n* to a J*n*t* P*t*r*, either on the same date and in the same place as the marriage of John H and Mary P, or anywhere else at any time. Where did you get this piece of information?

There are no surviving records on Scotland's People of any baptisms of children to J* H*t*c*n* and either Janet or Mary P*t*r*. What is your connection to either of these couples, and what is the source of that information?

Scotland's People has no record of the baptism of a John H*t*c*n* in Tannadice in 1702 or 1703. What is the source of the birth date you found of 27 December 1702?

What evidence do you have to prove that it was this John H*t*c*n* who married Mary P*t*r*?

According to Scotland's People John Petrie and Margaret M*rg*n* had six children baptised in Mains and Strathmartine betwen 1682 and 1700. Ann 1682, Robert 1684, Helen 1686, Jean 1695, Euphemia and James 1700. What is your evidence that it was they who were the parents of Janet P*t*r* who married John Hutcheon?
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Hi & thanks very much for the reply & info. Most of my info came from Familysearch &/or Findmypast.
The thing is that when it comes to Scottish records most of the information on FS and FindMyPast, just like the other commercial web sites, is transcriptions and indexes of originals that are only available on Scotland's People. It's always necessary to look at the originals, for two main reasons.

First, to check whether or not the information in the transcription or index matches the information in the original. Errors do occur!

Second, to see whether there is additional information in the original that is not transcribed or indexed but might be useful.

The other thing is that, just because there may only be one possible candidate in the surviving records, it doesn't mean that they are the right person. There are so many gaps in the church registers before 1855 that you cannot assume anything.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
