John BRYER marriage
« on: Wednesday 30 June 10 10:30 BST (UK) »
I'm looking for a marriage, circa 1808 of a John Bryer to a Hannah Maria ?
John, a son, was born 1810 in Cranborne, Dorset. It is possible that the Bryers were originally from Somerset, last known residence was in Broadwater, Sussex.
Anything regarding this family would be much appreciated.

This site http://www.opcdorset.org/CranborneFiles/CranborneBaps1813-1824.htm shows an 1819 baptism at Cranborne of a George French BRYER, son of John (a gentleman) and "Anna Maria", of Eastbourne.

George French BRYER's 1852 marriage record shows that his father John was an Exciseman.

Hi,

There is also a baptism for a Thomas Symes Bryer at Cranbourne 2.6.1805, so it is possible that Hannah Maria was a Symes and that they married much earlier than 1808.  Edit:  He was born 12.3.1805.

Incidentally, there are a lot of Symes in Somerset and Dorset.

John Edwin born 5.6.1810 baptised 17.6.1810
Harriet as above.

No marriage listed on the Family Search Pilot site.

There are many entries of other Bryers there that seem to be the descendants of John and Hannah Maria.

Hope this helps.

Thankyou all for your input.
The likelyhood of Hannah Maria being a Symes is very much a distinct possibility. I have yet to find the marriage.
John & Hannah had a daughter, Hannah Maria, born 1812, Broadwater, Sussex, she being my 3rd gr grandmother.  Her marriage to Thomas John Grinyer in 1830, Brighton, Sussex, there were 11 children. The second, a son, was born 1833, named William Symes Grinyer. There are other "Symes" as christian names throughout the Grinyer lines.
Hannah's siblings, that I have found so far are;
Thomas Symes, 12 March 1805, Cranborne.
Harriet, bapt18 Oct 1806, Cranborne
John Edwin, 5 June 1810, Cranborne
Hannah Maria, bapt 23 Aug 1812, St Mary, Broadwater, Sussex
George French, bapt 19 Nov 1819, Cranborne
