Marriage St Hilda's, South Shields 1838 DAGLISH/WEATHERSTON
« on: Tuesday 29 June 10 18:49 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am wondering if anyone can help please with any additional details from the marriage of Richard DAGLISH and Elizabeth WEATHERSTON on 6 September 1838 at St Hilda's, South Shields (found on GenUKI)?

It is possible Richard could be my ancestor and may have married twice, his first wife also being an Elizabeth (nee WOOD). Have not been able to find a match for the christening of his first wife given the details for her on the census records to 1861 and this second marriage may be the reason if Richard married two Elizabeth's!!

As Richard's first marriage was in 1810 this second marriage could be the breakthrough needed to find the identity of Richard's Dad!  :D

Any help much appreciated, thank you.

Kind regards and God bless you,
Lynne x

Do you know about the Daglish one-name study and its website?

Hi Ainslie

Thank you very much for that. It has been some time since I first found the site and had forgotten all about it. Thank you for the reminder!

Hi Diddy

Thank you very much for those details! Yes, Richard is the youngest son of Richard and Elizabeth nee WOOD. Did have the christening but not the burial so very much appreciated, thank you!

Hi Lynne,

Not sure if you have resolved this request yet but I have some info to add.

The marriage record for Richard Daglish and Elizabeth Weatherton show Richard's father was James Daglish and Elizabeths father was Aaron Weatherston.

Richard and Elizabeth were living in Tynemouth in 1841 both listed as aged 20 which means they could have been anywhere between 20 and 25.  Elizabeth Weatherston was baptised at Tynemouth 5th Dec 1817 to Aaron and Margaret Weatherston.

I am trying to determine if this Richard fits into my ancestry.  I have a Richard Daglish baptised in 1819 to father James.  The rest of his family was living in Tynemouth in 1841 also.  The only thing that does not fit is that my Richard was actually born at Kingston Upon Hull.

Do you have any records of this Richard Daglish and Elizabeth Weatherston after the 1841 census?

Regards,

Morris
