The following were baptised at St Samlet's Church, Llansamlet - father's name Christmas William

Mary William, 19 Sep 1773
Francis William, 13 Dec 1778
David William, 4 Jun 1881
John William, 16 May 1784
Rachel William, 8 Dec 1786*
?? Male, 14 Jun 1789
Rachel William, 6 Oct 1792

* - the burial of a Rachel William, St Samlet, is recorded 15 May 1788

The age of the Rachel that married William Langdon never quite ties in with the 1792 baptism above, except possibly the 1841 Census where Rachel's rounded age of 45 could put her between 45 (1796) and 49 (1792). Neither does the burial date of 3 July 1869 of Rachel Langdon, Foxhole, age 62, fit well with this 1792 date.

Have yet to check out the Rachel baptised 18 March 1802.

regards

food for thought on this result indeed Hanes -- it would appear that this Rachel is a co-incidence rather than being the actual Rachel I'm hoping to discover.

We do have note that a John William was a witness at her marriage to William Clement, but of course, there must be a very great many John William so again, it's not quite enough to tie together neatly :-(

Very grateful for our assistance in unravelling this one!

cheers
Lynda
