Redknap Family Bible - London - 1863
« on: Thursday 24 June 10 12:08 BST (UK) »
I have scanned a few pages of a family bible I have.  It was started in 1863 by the Redknap Family who were Thames Watermen in London.

I have put some of the scans which contain names and dates of the families here -

I may have a connection to your REDKNAP family that travelled far and wide!!! My 3X great grandmother was Mary Jane BREWER (nee LONGHURST). She married James BREWER 16/4/1838, tailor, at Hampton. Her father was Thomas LONGHURST Tallow merchant. According to her death cert her mother was Susannah ____(surname unknown). I have found a marriage between Thomas LONGHURST & Susannah REDKNAP at St Dunstan with St Catherine Feltham, 16/11/1794. Mary Jane was born at Twickenham and James was born at Richmond Upon Thames. There seems to be BREWER/LONGHURST/REDKNAP

I will have a dig through my records when I get home to see if I can see anything with their names on.

Its a little odd as I am sitting at work just a few miles from the church you mentioned !

Cheers

There seems to be BREWER/LONGHURST/REDKNAP families at these parishes. What I have fits with these families connected by marriage etc. Mary Jane, James and their children emigrated to NSW Australia in the 1850s (uncertain at this stage as can't confirm shipping records - but between October 1851 & April 1856 as these dates are certain). I did come across somewhere a REDKNAP arriving in Aust in the 1850s so possible both events connected.

So does anyone have a link with these families?
