Jane Suitor and George Duthie

Hello there
Am looking for any assistance with a Jane Suitor born around 1805 Tarves Scotland who married a George Duthie born around 1807 in Aberdeenshire living at St Clements1851 and St Nicholas 1871 Children as known George Alexander William and James B
Any assistance no matter how small would be greatly appreciated as I can find very little on this couple as I come from Australia

Hello Yvonne,

A few questions that others will ask and to prevent duplication.

Profession of George.
Do you have them in the 1841 census.
Ages of children and parents on '51 and '71 census and where born.
Did the whole family go to Australia or just one child.

Have had a look on the www.scotlandspople.gov.uk and cannot easily see a death entry for Jane/Jean Duthie - other name Suitor (with surname variants).

A quick search on the IGI doesn't bring up a marriage or children to them, but pre 1855 that's not too unusual.

Any other info that might help.

As per his sons death cert it states George was a Mason Bricklayer  In 1871 his residence is listed as St Nicholas Aberdeenshire and Old Machar Aberdeenshire in 1881 when he was listed as 74yrs old Children if correct were Ann.. Alexander.. George  Jnr...William and James B The child George Jnr came to Australia in 1855 he was also a carpenter  he married a Christina Nicholson from the Isle of Skye in Australia in 1863 and they had 7 children ist child name unknown 2. George Alexander Crombie Duthie 3.Christina isabela 4. Flora Jamieson 5.James 6. Jane Sutor Duthie 7 Isabella Matheson Duthie

Hello

The only George Duthie dying in Aberdeen/shire with a birth 5 years either side of 1807, is the one highlighted by 'ev'.

He was a widower to Jane Chalmers and a former mason.

Died on 13th March 1885 from pleurisy.  Son, George F Duthie witness.

Where did you get the surname Suitor from?

Just double checked the 1881 census for you.

The only 74 year old George Duthie on the census is the one who dies in 1885.

On the census he is living (a widower), at Mary Villea, Woodside, the address where he dies 4 years later.

With him in the house is

George B Duthie unmarried 20 years old, Grandson,  Printer Apprentice (Compositor).  Note:  on death entry the initial is definitely 'F'.

there is a george forsyth duthie age 40 with family living at mary villea in 1881
george showing as born aberdeen , aberdeen
if this is the son then it looks like it's not the family of the australian george 

i also see the IGI has a jean chalmers baptized 1804 tarves aberdeenshire
george duthie & jane chalmers married 1832 old machar aberdeen

george duthie 15 apprentice carpenter born fetteresso kincardineshire

also
1841 netherley fetteresso
george duthie 6 born kincardineshire

not sure who his parents are but there is also a christian duthie age 55 on the
1841
could this be his grandmother ?
