I also have an interest in the Timms family, but from Wotton, Oxfordshire:-

Martha Timms married Giles Ibell, about 1808, she was born  July 1786 to Samuel Timms and Elizabeth Blackford in Wotton.

Samuel Timms born Wotton, Nov 1753, to Samuel Timms and his wife Catherine.

Is there any link to your Tims family?

regards, sgc

Our family has always been in Barford St. Michael since 1620.
We have in our tree a Martha Timms b. 1784 at Barford St. Michael.     We have a Samuel Timms b. 1658 at Barford St. Michael who married Elizabeth b. 1660.   Samuel was the son of Martin Timms b. 1620.

Do you mean Wootton, Oxfordshire?

There is a possibility of a family connection

Hi JanJim,

I guess I do mean Wootton, I just can't spell!

Martha says she was born in Wootton in her census return for 1851.

There is another interesting Timms connection that I have remembered, my ancestor,  Emma Nicholls married Martha Timm's grandson Michael Ibell, but in the 1851  census she is a 15 year old servant living at Barford St John with a Susannah Tims, age 80, farmers widow, born Barford, and Susannah's unmarried daughter Sarah age 40 born Barford.

Hi sgc,

Yes I see Wootton now on the map, it is not that far away from Barford St. Michael

This is quite interesting, I do have some Parish records for the Timms family that may interest you, if you give me your contact email details via a personal message, I can send you through copies of this.

Also I have just been to England and visited Barford St. Michael, found quite a few graves for the Timms family, so will check them all out, I found a grave of William Thomas Timms and Susannah Timms,  and one for Susanna Timms wife of John who died 12.1.1855 aged 83 years, so this
may be the Susanna you are referring to.

I'm thinking there must be a connection to your family somehow

Hi janjim

I've just made a connection to the Timms family of Barford, Oxon, so I thought I would drop you a message.

My John Gill married Priscilla 'Sill' Timms at St Peter, Brackley, Northants on 10 Nov 1745.

I believe this Priscilla (as the combination of names is unusual at the time) is most likely the Priscilla Timms chr. 9 Feb 1723 St Michael, Barford, daughter of Sam. & Ann.

They settled in John Gill's village of Wardington, Oxon and had a number of issue.

Do you have this marriage or can you place this priscilla in your tree?

Cheers for now, Bonza

Hi Bonza,
Yes, there is a connection.    Priscilla would be an issue of Samuel Timms b. 1688 Barford St. Michael who married in 1713 to Ann Perkins b.1685.   Samuel Timms was eldest child of Martin and Priscilla Timms who married in 1713.

I come down the line of Samuel Timms brother William Timms b. 1690 Barford St. Michael who married in 1723 to Elizabeth Lovedream.

I can give you more information if you require

Hi Neil,
I only go back to Martin Timms b. 1620 Barford St. Michael who married a Judith in 1640.  It seems Martin died in 1698.

Will p.m.
