Searching for KRETZSCHMAR

Hi Folks... Just wondering if anyone fancy's helping me in finding some information about KRETZSCHMAR's of Germany...
Or Cartwrights of Cork Ireland

I'm looking for anything


Here's what I have...

Carl KRETZSCHMAR jumped ship from German Merchant Marines in Cork.. He met a lady called Jennie
Cartwright..
No work in Ireland so they both moved to work in the coal mines in South Wales. 

Carl married Jennie in 12/11/1901 at Cardiff, It states on the wedding certificate that they lived at Clive Buildings Cardiff....On the wedding cert. Carl's Father was Gustav KRETZSCHMAR Occupation was a Brewer in Germany but was deceased in 1901. Jennie's Father was a Matthew Cartwright he was an engineer in Ireland he was also deceased..
The witnesses at the wedding were Gustav Kogel and Martha Cartwright...................

On the 1911 Census

CARL KRETZSCHMAR, Aged 34 was a Miner from Berlin Germany
Jennie KRETZSCHMAR aged 29 was from Cork Ireland
They had 4 children Idris, Violet, Cecil, Ernest,

there address was 7 CORONATION TERRACE SENGHENYDD Glamorgan

There is no death registration for Matthew Cartwright in Ireland or birth for Jennie (Jane, etc.) Cartwright (from 1864 onwards) and only a few Cartwrights from Co. Cork listed in Irish civil index.

A large number of people from Cork settled in Cardiff vacinity so might be worth checking 1901 census (and earlier ones for Cartwright family. One person I was searching for later went to U.S. and listed their birthplace as "Cardiff, Ireland" which is how I found them in Welsh census records and then earlier in Cork.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

I think the name would be Karl Kretschmer originally and not Kretschmar. Just a thought. Will have a search tomorrow. I know of living Kretschmers in Germany (not of interest to you, however).

Familyssearch IGI has a Carl Robert Kretschmer, b. 18.12.1875, Luisenstadt, Berlin.
Father Gustav, mother Marie Bochum.

I too am looking for information on the same Karl Kretschmar on behalf of a friend's (Lorraine) mother, I would be interested to know if you have any links, or are researching from the same starting point.
