My mistake entirely - I transposed John Beer's first wife as Thomas Knapps!
It is hard enough getting information regarding these ancestors without doing that!

I'm searching for the mother [Mary ....?] of Eliza Alden KNAPP.  Unable to find records of
the marriage of Mary ...? and Thomas Alden KNAPP son of Thomas Knapp & Hester Alden.

Here's a quick summary about Eliza Alden KNAPP born abt 1817 - check parish records to see if
she was baptised 3 Aug 1817 St Gregory's Church of England, Dawlish, Devon, England
the daughter of Mary ....[unknown] (abt 1781-1856) & Thomas Alden KNAPP (abt 1785-1865)

Elize emigrated 12 Sept 1839 with parents and siblings on the 'John' arr Port Adelaide 5 Feb 1840

Eliza Knapp was married 18 Oct 1843 in Adelaide to John Beer (1823-1900) son of Elizabeth Williams & John Beer

died-buried 16 April 1855 Adelaide South Australia

29 Sept 1856 at Trinity Church Adelaide John Beer (widower) married his sister-in-law
Mary Ann [Flaherty] Knapp 1813-1891, widow of Thomas James Knapp (1824-d. 28 Jan 1855)

my distant link is through Mary Staples the mother of Emma Staples (1844-1876) who married
George Beer (1844-189x) son of Eliza Knapp & John Beer.
