I have had a look for Alfred Thompson's burial at Otley and I didn't find it.
His death was at Askwith which didn't have its own church but they were linked to the Weston parish church. I think it is in West Yorkshire but I cannot find any records for it.

Thank you for having a look.  I really appreciate.  If he is not buried in any of the surrounding areas I am beginning to think that he could be in Hutton Cranswick where his parents are buried.

Have a look at www.findagrave.com.  I have put gravestone inscriptions on  - the ones I could read.  Just do a search for name in England and see if anything comes up.
