there's a possible death reference in the index, in the right area for Drumcondra and age :

 Registration District: Dublin North

 Volume : 2 / Page : 383

although death certs dont usually have much useful information... it would possibly confirm if this was the same person by comparing residence at time of death, marital status etc  see : Details included on Death Certs

Looks as if at least her death was acknowledged.  I need to look at all  the leads and see what I can run to.

If I could get at the baptism register that might clinch it.  No chance of going at the moment.  I'll have a look at the local parish etc.  I guess there aren't any traanscripts, I guess?  I wonder if the work going om will unearth any registers for the convent?  I guess in the circumstances it's unlikely.

Baptism & Marriage records for the RC parish of Baldoyle/Howth/Sutton  appear to be available (with gaps) on the pay-website of the Irish Family History Foundation - see their list of sources for North County Dublin at : http://irish-roots.ie/dublin-north-fingal.asp

The records they hold are transcripts.. so there can be errors and omissions.

I've done quite a bit of research on the Baldoyle Parish records in the NLI.

I have no connection to the Hoeys that I am aware of yet, but I have a Hugh Hoey as a sponsor on an 1847 baptism.

Not sure if someone has already made this clear but you can take Beldoyle and Baldoyle as different spellings for the same place. I can remember back in the 50's many locals pronounced it as 'Beldoyle'.

Also, the Baldoyle area is not included in the 1901 Census on the NAI website as of yet but will hopefully be posted at a later date.

Noone'smactually said specifically about the spelling yet, Dara.

I was beginning to get an inkling, as on the maps - which are brilliant, thank you! - it says Bailedoyle - pronounced Bel? and also Bildoyle - I think.

Thank you Shane, I will definitely have to look at that pay site seriously.

Thank you as well, for telling me about it not being on 1901.  That is crucial - one of the reasons I thought I had the wrong place, was I couldn't find it! 

I will be looking every two minutes in case I miss it!

Anyway, I'lll follow up all these leads in places I know about such as English Census and Ellis Island etc, to try ad work out what happened to the family.

From the index to 1901 fpr Howth, Sutton, Kilbarrack & Baldoyle, published by the GSI, there is only one Hoey family in Baldoyle. The index only lists Head of Household, relatives, boarders, visitors etc.

Henry Hoey, 97 Baldoyle Village.

There is a family listed in Howth living with a relative.

Fred age 34,
John 28,
Mmary A 9,
Patrick 12,
Stephen 11,
William 36.

A second family in Howth, HoH is Patrick, age 39.

Dara, do you mind me asking what the surnames involved in the baptism were?

We have quite a few sponsors with Irish names for the Hoeys in Heywood England.

I'll look them out, but from memory there are certainly Carroll's and I think Morans, Donghues, or variant.  Also Williams.

I'll look the rest up.

Can I show my ignorance, or am I being slow as well?  What is GSI please?

Fred and Patrick would have to becousins at closest for my Anastasia.

Have I got this right though?  Is Henry actually 97 years old, or is that a reference?  We have plenty of longevity, but he would be the record!
