Crich Parish Registers - Wilcockson
« on: Tuesday 15 June 10 21:24 BST (UK) »
I understand that there is a gap in the Crich Parish Registers from 1642 to 1672 which is only partially closed by the Bishops Transcripts which ends in 1646. Is this statement correct and do you know of any other source containing names of Crich people from the above gap period other than the wills held at Lichfield Record Office ?

If so I would be interested in any Wilcockson bmd records for this gap period

Hi Bulwell,

Bap.
Wilcockson   William      Wilcockson   Robert         05/11/1672   Wheatcroft

Bur.
Wilcockson   Henry            08/06/1672      Crich
Wilcockson   William   Robert   P      03/12/1672      Crich   bapt 05/11

These are the only Wilcocksons in your gap that I can find on my CD

Some of the parish registers are in a poor condition and parts are unreadable due to fading, water damage, wear and tear, also some years are missing.  All readable parts of entries have been included in these indexes.  Where an attempt has been made to read names they have been marked with a question mark.

No baptisms, marriages or burials were recorded January to December 1726.
No marriages were recorded in the registers for 1754, 1756, 1757 &1765.
No marriages or baptisms were recorded in 1764 and only 4 entries of burials were made.

The above is from the notes.

Cheers Jo

PS Mods I do have permission to reproduce this as the transcriptions & CDs are done by my mum.

Jo,
Thank you for the information you posted.  It would seem to confirm that there is indeed this gap in the Crich parish records from 1646 to 1672 where either the records have been lost or were never taken.
Regards
Alan
