Peter Riley and Margaret Callaghan
« on: Tuesday 15 June 10 15:35 BST (UK) »
Hi All

I am looking for any information on Peter Riley and Margaret Callaghan.  They originated from County Meath, married in Dunboyne 1/7/1862. I am descended from their Daughter Ellen Riley who married a Levi Johnson, once the family had moved from Ireland to Staffordshire.  Setting up home in Newcastle Under Lyme.

I am travelling to Ireland at the end of July to try and follow up on the Rileys, but I would appreciate any help or information anyone can provide me with. I am used to searching the records in Wales and England, but i am a bit nervous with the Irish side as I have never tried before, so again any pointers would be gratefully received.  ???

Thanks

H

Were the families Catholic ?

If so the records for the RC parish of Dunboyne are available on microfilm in the National Library (Kildare St, Dublin) on film Pos. 4176 (full Civil records did not start untill 1864).

The dates covered are from about 1787 to 1877, and there does seem to be some gaps. See RC Parish of Dunboyne on the Irish Times website.
