William Hayes 1905-1967 ?
« on: Tuesday 15 June 10 13:40 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I've been trying to find my grandfathers family for 2 years now, but with little luck, we discovered he had a brother and sister, the sister Annie we think weve found in Preston, but William b.1905 in St Helens weve never found him and as Annie doesn't seem to have had any children William is our only way of bringing the family forward. My grandfather Thomas died aged 37 in 1952 so my father and his siblings know nothing about him or his family, hence not knowing about the existance of his siblings.
I have found a William Hayes buried in St Helens cemetary aged 62, buried 30/08/1967 which would age him perfectly, I wondered if anyone lives near to the cemetary or has access to records that would help me in any way.

William was born 18/01/1905
mother Sarah Ellen Hayes
William was Illigitimate but had a step father Thomas Hornby
If someone could have a look at the grave or has records that would help, we think he would have married in a catholic church as his mother did to Thomas also his sister Annie did to Thomas Clisham, both marriages were in 1917.
There may be something on the headstone that would match with some of this info or if he had any children does it say he's the father of........
Also in the grave are Lily Hayes aged 21 buried 20/01/1955 and Elizabeth Connelly buried03/12/1953.

grave section 44
grave number 953.

Thankyou to anyone who may be able to help with any of this.

Sammy.

Hello Sammy

A free search of the 1911 census reveals a son William Hayes living with a Sarah Ellen Hayes in St Helens.

Another free search shows 2 possibilities for a Sarah Ellen Hayes living in the same house as a William Hayes. One Sarah Ellen was born c1875 and the other c1887 (but her surname is HEYES). Was your Sarah Ellen born c1875?

A free search for Annie living with Sarah Ellen gives one result - she was born c1898. Is this when your Annie was born?

If the data matches it might be worth looking at the transcript or a scan of the 1911 record although you would have to pay.

Ivan

Hi, yes Annie was born in 1898 Sarah Ellen 1874, I have them in the 1911 census , it's more what happened after that, I don't know what became of William at all.
As I said I think I've found Annie marrying twice and her death, but William is the problem.

Sammy.
