Hi Everyone
I was wondering if anyone here had any links to the 'Dale' family. Arnold married Robina Grant (b. 1865), who was the sister of my great-great-grandfather. I have what I belive is a photograph of Robina, and would love to get in touch with her American descendants to see if the photo I have is indeed of her.
I will post the information I have below:
Robina was born 6 June 1864 in Monifieth, Angus.
In 1886, she married Arnold H Dale (b. 28 November 1860, Dundee, Angus). At the time she was living at Hospital Wynd, Dundee.
On 30 April 1887, they left for America on The State of Alabama. They had the following children:
1. Louis Dale (b. 23 January 1887, Scotland)
2. Isabella G Dale (b. 1891, New York)
3. Lillian D Dale (b. 10 June 1894, New York)
4. William Dale (b. 27 February 1899, Patterson, Passaic, New Jersey)
Between 1890 and 1891, the family were living at 90 Mercer Street, Paterson, Passaic, New Jersey. In 1910, they were living at 78 Park Ave. East, Household 110-140, Queens, New York. In 1920, Arnold and Robina were living at 29 Hillcrest Ave., Household 152-157, Jamaica, Queens, New York with their two daughters, son-in-law and grandson.
When the family arrived in America, Arnold’s occupation was given as foreman. In the 1910 census, he was ‘Superintendent of Brass Foundry’, ten years later he was the factory’s owner.
Arnold died on 1 May 1939, his obituary in the New York Times read “Arnold H. Dale, retired president of the Queens Brass and Bronze Borough Foundry, died Monday in his home 36-38 203 St., Bayside, Queens. Mr. Dale was born 78 years ago in Dundee, Scotland and came to this country as a young man. He is survived by his widow, two daughters Mrs. Isabel Roberts and Mrs. Lillian Bull and two sons, William and Louis Dale.”
