Marriage Kite/Bell 1818 or later

Richard Kite was buried at St Peter in the East 25 Jan 1818. His widow Diana
married Henry Bell, a cabinet maker of Oxford. Can anyone locate the marriage
please?

I have checked omi this marriage is not on there. The index goes up to 1837 for all of Oxfordshire.

I wasn't sure whether to mention this IGI entry because it's the wrong name, the wrong place and it's one of those IGI entries submitted by an LDS member i.e. NOT a transcription.

Having given all those negatives - it is the right time (as long as husband No. 1 died before June 1818) and the bride's surname's not that far off:

married 1 June 1818 at St Helen, Audley, Staffordshire
Henry Bell & Diana Keafes.

You never know, it might be worth a post on the Staffs Board to see if anyone can do a look up of the Audley PRs to see a) if the marriage actually happened, and b) if the LDS member has got Diana's surname wrong - or if it says she's a widow.


Or perhaps it's a complete red herring....

Thanks Toby, Jill, Allison. I will try and check the Audley reference, the date is certainly possible, although the surname seems a bit of a stretch. The first child of Henry Bell/Diana was baptised at South Hinksey 4 Oct 1818 so I should look in Berkshire as well. I suppose it is possible they didn't marry although apparently free to do so. Henry was a freeman of the city of Oxford too.

Did Diana survive until the 1841 census? Or even the 1851 census? If her birthplace is down as Staffs we might be on to something as marriages usually took place in the bride's home town.
