Hi I think I might have some useful information for you about the Ellis family.  My mother and her sister are the surviving grand children of Tolitha Cumi and James Steadman, there was another sister and a brother now sadly passed away.  My Mother and Aunt still live in the Wolverhampton area. Tolitha Cumi died in the 1970s She lived for many years in Blakenhall , Wolverhampton, James died before the second world war having been in the boar war and 1st war.   Aunt Dinah (Lavinia) did exist we visited her a few times when we were children  She lived in Waterfoot near Manchester Her surname then was Cartwright and she was a widow.  My late Aunt used to visit Jim Ellis and his family in Coventry until their deaths and his Sister Florence emigrated to Australia with her husband Lou and their children.  Jim and Florence were the children of Nebo jnr. Nebo snr  died during the bombing of Coventry the family were bombed out twice during the blitz and walked to wolverhampton with a young baby to seek refuge Hope this was of interest i think i have it right

Hi All,

I too have a connection with this family.  My Great Grandmother was Mary Ann Bond (b. 1878), her sister was Selina Ellis (nee Bond).

Mary Ann Bond married William Robbins in 1903 in Wolverhampton.

If anyone wants more info or has more info to share please shout  ;D

Jool

PS.  Here's a link to one of my previous posts showing a group photo with William Robbins front centre.  I don't know who the other people are, could even be some of the Bond family  ???

Hi Jool and kidles

Firstly, Jool - Thanks for getting in touch, I've PM'd you.

Secondly, kidles, welcome to RootsChat.  If you make two more posts on this board then we can PM each other as well.

I'm pleased that you have settled the fact that Aunt Dinah was indeed Lavinia after all, it's something that has been bothering us for a while.

I'm related to you through Albert Thomas Ellis who was Talitha Cumi's brother.  Albert was my great grandfather, he married Selina Bond, whose sister Mary Ann is Jool's great grandmother.

Hi all

More info for you about Tolitha Cumi and James Steadman they had two children Florence (Gibbons) born about 1900 died during the war and Harold similar birth date he must have died in the late 1980s I believe his widow is still alive.  My mother Vera Brenda her sisters Joan and Beryl and their brother Leonard are the children of Florence.  It seems Aunt Dinah (Lavinia) had a cafe in Prestatyn Wales prior to living in Waterfoot if this is any help to tracing her my Mother thinks she may have married twice

Regards Kidles

Kidles

Thank you so much for all the info you have provided us with.

It now just seems that Naomi is the only child from James Ellis and Mary Tart that is unaccounted for, but I'm sure she'll turn up one day when we're least expecting to find her.

Keep in touch.
