I am going to Ireland soon to research my ancestors in New Ross. Would I be able to do this in Wexford Library or do I need to go to Dublin to access the records.
Thanks

It depends on the dates involved ... for civil records (i.e. after 1864) the place to start is the GRO research room in Dublin. You can also search the BMD Index on the familysearch website online. For earlier parish records it depends on the family religion - Catholic records are available (on microfilm) in the National Library in Dublin & Church of Ireland records in the Representative Church Body Library in Rathfarnham.

Hi Shane,
Many thanks for the information.
I have seen Wexford Library mentioned a few times and wondered what records they hold.

In the above mentioned Wexford Town library website there is a PDF document that is quite useful
http://www.wexford.ie/wex/Departments/Library/LocalStudies/Nowandthen/Thefile,1897,en.pdf
Although the newsletter is 5 years old it still gives a flavour of what's held at the library.
