Hi, your request caught my eye. My great great grandfather ran the Dock Tavern at 29 Herbert Street for many many years ( Edwin Robinson). Does anyone know if any photographs of The Dock Tavern still exist, was any historical research done before the dock development? Although you can walk down the street map it's not clear if any of the old properties remain at all or whether  the whole area was completely demolished..

Not sure it is any help but Herbert Street runs off Parkfield Place (which is off North Road).  Many of the original houses (if not all) have been demolished and replaced but it is worth looking at:-

If you type in  coordinates 317291 and 178215 and click on the 1920 Pre WW2 1:2500 Glamorganshire map it will show what was there at the time.

Renu,

I don't know if you already have this info on your relative who ran the Dock Tavern?

[PDF]
THE LONDON GAZETTE, FEBRUARY 20, 1866.
www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/23073/pages/992/page.pdf‎
Robinson, of the Dock Tavern, No. 29, Herbert-street,. Cardiff aforesaid, Innkeeper, the executors therein named, on the 18th day of January, 1866, in the District ...

I can't post the PDF file on here, (too big) but if you follow the Link you can read the Article.

Romilly.
