High Street, New Pitsligo is the main road passing through the village.  Most of the buildings at the eastern end look original.  105 I think is probably more to the west.  From memory (it is a couple of years since I was there) the same applies to the western end but I think there may be a few more more modern houses.  As it was built on the side of quite a steep hill, the name is exactly what it says.  Low Street is further down the hill.  The old houses in School Street have been largely demolished and rebuilt relatively recently.

As far as lace making goes, this was a major centre and it was carried out largely in people's own homes.

Wee Flo

Do not know if this enquiry is still "alive", however we had family living in #55 in 1861 and they then moved to #32 High Street, New Pitsligo between 1860 and 1863 (children born in different addresses) The name was Alexander and Jessie Clark

One of these days I would love to be able to visit and have a look.

Here is another photo of High Street NP for you.  There is a group of ladies who are still making NP lace.  Lynne

Hi meandcupcake

Isn't RootsChat amazing that since 2005 nothing on this topic, and then suddenly it gets new life!!!!

Good to see what High Street looks like - it would be fascinating to see if either #55 or #32 are in the picture.

Thanks for that.

#55 High St NP is the Bank of Scotland.  It isn't in the picture I posted, but if you go to google maps uk and type in B of S New Pitsligo, go to street view, pan counterclockwise and head north, after the bridge you will see the bank with blue trim on the left hand side. It is before the Pitsligo Arms.  I couldn't find #32 as the addresses are unclear but you can get a general idea of where it would be.

#105 High St would be across from John Smith the Baker's outbuildings
