Laband COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 12 June 10 21:40 BST (UK) »
I am looking for the husband of Mary Laband of Counden, Warwickshire. She appears in the 1841 census with her five children, but there is no mention of a husband.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Hi,

Hopefully these are the baptisms of four of Mary's children which gives the father's name as Joseph (Mary's husband)

Mary Ann Laban, 22 Dec 1815, Holy Trinity, Coventry, Warwickshire, Parents Joseph Laban and Mary.

William Laband, 25 Jan 1831, Holy Trinity, Coventry, Warwickshire, Parents Joseph Laband and Mary.

Samuel Laband 29 July 1834, Holy Trinity, Coventry, Warwickshire, Parents Joseph Laband and Mary.

Joseph Laband 20 Mar 1838, Holy Trinity, Coventry, Warwickshire, Parents Joseph Laband and Mary.

There is a marriage for a Joseph Laband to Mary Jefcott 17 Aug 1813, St Martin, Birmingham.

Possible burial records - Joseph Laband, age 56, 10 April 1838, Holy Trinity, Coventry, Warwickshire.

Mary Laband, age 30, 11 Sep 1841, Holy Trinity, Coventry, Warwickshire.

Hope that helps.

JJ

Hi JJ,

Thanks for that. The baptisms of William, Samuel and Joseph seem right, as do the burial records so I'm sure Joseph Laband is the one I'm looking for.

As Mary was born in 1811 according to the census, the marriage can't be the right one.

Also the birth of Mary Ann in 1815 is too early. The census records two children (presumably twins) Thomas and Anne, born in 1826.

Any idea what happened to those two?

Thanks again, EG

Hi EG,

I think that the marriage of Joseph Laband to Mary Jefcott in 1813 could very well be Joseph's first marriage. As there is a burial of a Mary Laband 3 Dec 1822, Holy Trinity, Coventry, Warwickshire.

This looks like his 2nd marriage and the one that sits better with the family you are looking at - Joseph Laband to Mary Ann Jaycock, 14 Dec 1827, Holy Trinity, Coventry, Warwickshire. That would make Mary 16 years old.

Not found Thomas and Anne's Baptism yet, but will keep looking.

Regards

JJ
