I know what you mean..! Some of the translations have to be seen to be believed.
Tried just entering the name Nathan/year of birth/place of birth. Then tried the most obvious sounding strange name...
Surprising what you come up with..

Thanks Luzzu & Lancslass

Nathan senior shows as a weaver of Culcheth on the marriage cert
of his son in the parish of newchurch.

so your info is a good match.

I found 2 criminal records for  the name nathan silcock ,one for theft & the other for attempting buggery!
I hope he is not our nathan.

Thanks Martin.

Hi there
Coincidentally, I was just drawing up a family tree for a cousin, of the Parker family (my grandmother's family) when I saw that a grandson, Nathan Slicock was living with the Parker family in Culcheth, at the time of the 1851 census. I was searching under Little London, Culcheth, their address at the time, when I picked up your post in a search. I assume that Ann had been widowed between 1845 and 1851...what a family to support on whatever she could earn as a washerwoman. I assume that there must have been an older daughter who had been the mother of Nathan

Hi LMDaly
Fantastic to here your connection to my tree.

The Nathan you found is my 3 x grandfather born Culcheth 25 Oct 1841,
( Leigh ,21/464).
His father Nathan Silcock (Snr),  Silk Weaver, born Culcheth,6 may 1820.
His mother Alice Parker,Silk Weaver, (do not have birth date yet) married 4 Aug 1839 St Oswald's  Winwick.

Nathan & Alice(Parker) had two children David b1839 & Nathan (Jnr)1841.
Nathan died 13 Aug 1843 ,age 23, of Consumption.
Alice disappears about the same time (cannot work out date of death).
The children were left with the grand parents(David with Thomas Silcock &
Nathan with Elizabeth Parker).

I would love to know what happend to Alice but find it hard due to it being a
popular name and to many possible matches.Any help & info on the Parker's
would be much appreciated.

Thanks Martin.  email   martin.silcock@bigpond.com.au
