Lincs geography: Timberland,Thorpe Tilney etc

I am researching the King family:

William 1844/46 and Elizabeth 1849?

They had Mary 1870 (My greatgrandmother) and Sara, Clara, Herbert, Esther, John, Frank, Kate and Joseph.

William was a farm foreman and the address for 1881 and 1891 is Thorpe Tilney Fen. I also have the 1871 census which says they lived in Martin. The census gives varying places of birth, Timberland, Thorpe Tilney Fen, Martin, Dyke and Bourn. Are these all close by and are they variations of the same place or am I getting census errors or mixing families.

Any help appreciated.

It is about a mile and a half from Martin to Thorpe Tilney - Timberland is between the two.  Bourn is 20-25 miles south of those places.

William King b: 1845 at Bourne lincs
married to Elizabeth? bourne lincs
on 12 Oct 1897 at Timberland
Children are
Herbert b 1875
Mary b 1870
esther b 1873 - all these born at Martin lincs
then
John William b 1878
Frank b 1881 both born at Tilney lincs
Esther King married George Elkington

Not sure if these are related or not so I hope this helps

I have SAXBYs that moved from Martin & Timberland to Morton (next to Dyke) don't know why but I do know how -
the new railway line!

Farm workers moved about a lot so it may just be that he was working in different places at each census.

They would have had to wait till 1872 to get a train from Sleaford to Bourne.

Yes mine did, I guess the Kings were trailblazers that created the demand.
The topography is very similar, both are flat fenland

But this one couldn't have been at Timberland (which is in Sleaford District)

I find it puzzling that the previous marriage posted should have a date but not the bride's surname
