Good morning.Thank you for your reply yesterday, and continued help and support.I'm very sorry to reply in a new post here, but am completely new to using computers, and for some reason couldn't follow how to reply any other way;there is usually a "reply" box to press, but wasn't this time.

Anyway, how very interesting.Yes, my Angus was definitely a blacksmith, and the information that he was born in Oa is new to me,and I am very excited that there may even be a way to discover his parents from his death certificate.(Or birth records?Where did you discover that he was born in
Oa?)I am not at all sure where to look for that - would you be able to help at all,or suggest where I should look?
Does this mean that his wife Ann,b.1793 Kilchoman is related to the family whose parents were given as Lachlan McLergan and Mary McQuarrie?
I was really excited that you found that my Angus had been a blacksmith   - it is definitely the right man then.Any further help would be very, very much appreciated, and thank you for your interest.

Hi Carolyn, the 1861 census record reads as follows:

Civil Parish: Oa; Address: Ballychatrigin.
Angus McEachern: Head; b.abt.1791 Kilchoman; Occupation Blacksmith.
Ann McEachern: Wife; b.abt.1793 Kilchoman.
Ann McEachern: Daughter; b.abt.1845 Kilchoman; Occupation Domestic Servant.
Angus McEachern: Grandson; b.abt.1854 Dumbarton.
Peter McEachern: Grandson; b.abt.1856 Dumbarton.
Margaret Galbrath: Granddaughter; b.abt.1848 Glasgow.
Source Citation:  Parish: Oa; ED: 1; Page:  5; Line: 13; Roll  CSSCT1861_72; Year: 1861.

Apologies, I mis-read Angus's place of birth earlier; he was born in Kilchoman. I can't find any sign of Ann in the 1871 census so the death that Neil Mac found is probably correct.
Regards
Stewart

Hi,Stewart, and thank you for your message.I was going to send you my email address later - have been out in the garden!
Isn't this a fascinating thing to do,tracing our family histories? I'm really enjoying it,and never cease to be amazed at the kindness of people, like yourself, who take the time to help someone else.
Thank you for the census information - I'd like to think that the grandson Angus who was visiting was my g.grandad - he was born in 1854 in Dumbarton, but didn't have a brother called Peter or a sister Margaret!
Hope your own research is going well, and thank you for another piece of my puzzle.Best wishes,Carolyn.
