Hi Jane,

Just to let you know before I give details St John the Evangelist Church Manthorpe wasn't consecrated until 17th August 1848 so the marriage and baptisms were at St Wulframs Church Grantham.

Information from St Wulframs Parish records Reel 885 Section 1/5 held in Grantham Library.

Thank you so much for giving up your time to help me.  I can now add these new members of my family to my tree.   I had seen Alice and Edward mentioned but could not prove they belonged to William and Mary.  Thank you so much for doing this for me.

I have just noticed that George was baptised in December 1749 and  Alice was baptised in Feb 1750.  Does Alice belong to William and Mary??.

Because of the way the calendar worked in those days (the year began 25th March), Feb 1750 is actually 14 months after Dec 1749.

To get the calendar exactly how they wanted it, they removed eleven days from the calendar in September 1752 which prompted riots in some quarters. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m2279/is_n149/ai_17782422/

Nor were the financial authorities impressed, so instead of keeping the start of their year as Lady Day (25 March) it became 12 days later - 6 April.  Of course, this is still the start of our tax year.
