Thanx for the heads up re the * wildcard. I had been using it for example:-  S* would find all the births for people with the surname starting with 'S' for a particular year, but didn't know you could just use the * in the surname.

Just found a rellie I was looking for  ;D

Cheers

Ni need to apologise. I made it a separate thread for that very reason. I knew there would be others with the same query. Glad you are getting it sorted. It is all like learning  a new language. Good for the brain cells. Norag

Thank you Merlin,  :D you really are a magician.
That's weird tho', all evidence says he was born in Wagga. And if they were in Sydney, they should be in the Mascot/Botany area.  ???  St Philips is down in The Rocks.
Also strange that it's from the Pioneer Register.  ???
There's also info about him in the "Aldine Centenial History of NSW", that was published in 1880.
Everything says he was born in Wagga. His parents must have come up to Sydney for the christening. That's something I would never have thought of.

Next question....
How do I get a certificate?

In the past I have written to St Philips and they sent a photo copy of the church register page. But that number sugests it should be on the NSW BMD site. But it isn't.  ???
Can anyone access the Pioneer Register?  What do people with the CDs do?
If you have the answer to this one I'm sure it would be helpful to others as well as to me.

Leonie.
