HALF MOON Public House, Pakefield. KING family..?

There exists in my family a letter written by my Gt Gt Grandmother's brother re the death of his father George King. Mentioned in the letter is George's father, Samuel, who he said he believed kept a Public House called the Half Moon at the end of Pakefield Street, Lowestoft.

In 1871, Samuel is living in Pakefield, and is listed as Innkeeper at a London Road Public House.

I cannot seem to find the existance of the Half Moon Public House, nor any details for a Samuel King listed at a Public House on London Road, other than that which was mentioned in the census...can anyone shed some light??

May have been lost to the sea.  Pakefield suffered severe storm damage (1900 or so), and many streets disappeared into the sea.

Hi,
 On the 1861 census RG09/1186  91/10 there is a Half Moon (Beer house) , in London Road , Pakefield, Mutford, Suffolk.
This sounds like the same place Samuel was in 1871, pub just not named.

Have you  looked on the DeadPubs site?  Can't see any Kings at a Half Moon but there might be something on here if you search a bit deeper.

Hi, yes have tried that site and various others. No details unfortunately. Had considered that it could have been one of those lost to the sea, but the location i believe it to have been seems to still be there.
