The entire property was was granted to Henry Loftus in 1666 and the Loftus family (g.v. Loftus Hall) remained there as owners until 1912.

Dudley Loftus, eldest son of Lord Adam Loftus, archbishop of Dublin and Lord Chancellor of Ireland, was granted the lands of Kilcloggan about the year 1590. Subsequently the Loftus family acquired much more land in the area, including the manor of Fethard.
They were given the title Viscount Ely in 1756 and raised to the peerage at a later date.
Henry Loftus mover to Redmond Hall and an inscription reading, Henry Loftus of Loftus Hall Esq, 1680 still survives in part.
The Loftus family gave up the estate in the twentieth century.
